Bahamas Swimwear Photography in The Exumas: La’Avana Campaign by Robyn Damianos
Bahamas photographer Robyn Damianos captures the La’Avana Swimwear Voyage campaign across Staniel Cay and Little Pipe Cay in The Exumas, featuring Rachell Vallori and Bahamas models and turquoise-water backdrops—where luxury island style meets effortless swimwear elegance.
Swimwear photography in The Bahamas
Some shoots simply capture beauty, but every now and then, one captures magic. The La’Avana Swimwear Voyage campaign was one of those dream projects—an editorial journey through the turquoise shallows and white sandbanks of The Exuma Cays, where every frame told a story of island luxury, effortless style, and sun-soaked escape. As a Bahamas swimwear photographer, I wanted to create imagery that felt both modern and timeless, celebrating the natural beauty of The Bahamas and the strength and elegance of our Bahamas models.

Inspiration & Concept
From creative direction to production planning, I worked closely with La’Avana to bring their vision for the new Voyage collection to life. La’Avana’s designs are timeless — classic cuts, sophisticated fabrics, and easy island wearability. The campaign theme, “Voyage,” was inspired by the spirit of island-hopping through The Bahamas — from seaplane arrivals to barefoot elegance in paradise.

Location & Light
Living full-time in The Bahamas has shaped how I see light and color. Each island has its own rhythm — its own personality — and I wanted this campaign to feel transportive, like stepping into a postcard of paradise. Shooting in and around Little Pipe Cay, a private island close to Staniel Cay allowed us to capture those intimate, radiant moments when natural light meets effortless beauty. My editorial fashion background helped balance that raw island energy with sophistication, creating imagery that feels alive, effortless, and timeless.

Bahamas Production
Photographing in The Exumas always feels like an adventure. The scenery is unmatched, and knowing where to find the most breathtaking and secluded beach locations makes all the difference. My team managed location scouting, model casting and booking, along with sourcing props that elevated the storytelling. As a Bahamas based photographer, I bring not just the visuals but the logistics — understanding the tides, light, and local terrain so every hour counts. That combination of insider knowledge, beauty, and efficiency is what my team and I specialize in.

Direction & Models
As a model turned photographer, I now use that experience behind the lens. My strength comes with helping to find the perfect talent for each brand I work with. I know how to spot models who naturally embody a collection’s spirit — whether that’s sophistication, playfulness, or effortless island beauty. Because of that shared background, I have an instant connection with the models on set. They trust my direction, and that comfort translates into every frame. I guide them intuitively — understanding what feels natural in front of the camera and how to bring out genuine emotion and movement. When people feel comfortable, their authenticity shines through — and that’s where the magic happens.
